Indonesia Partners with Binance to Combat Cybercrime

In a significant move to bolster its defenses against cybercrime and economic offenses, Indonesia has entered into a partnership with Binance, clearly demonstrating the importance of knowledge sharing in the battle against digital threats. This collaboration features key Indonesian agencies including the Directorate of Cyber Crime (Bareskrim Polri), Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Cyber Crime Directorate, and the Financial Intelligence Unit (PPATK). Together, these entities aim to enhance their investigative capabilities through a structured program that includes training, increased resources, and coordinated investigations aimed at tackling the rising tide of cross-border cryptocurrency crimes.

Training and Collaboration Initiatives

Earlier this month, representatives from Binance’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) participated in various meetings and training exercises with Indonesian law enforcement officials and government bodies. This engagement included specialists in cybercrime and financial intelligence who worked together to strengthen their operational frameworks, establish trust, and create a safer digital environment for users.

Binance’s involvement culminated in their presence at the 2025 Cyber Crime Investigation Capacity-Building Training, an initiative organized in collaboration with Bareskrim Polri. The training provided a vital opportunity for both parties to share investigative strategies, deliver insights on cryptocurrency-related offenses, and discuss effective practices utilized in the private sector. The aim was to equip local investigators with advanced skills necessary to combat increasingly complex cyber threats.

Acknowledgment and Future Collaboration

To express gratitude for Binance’s contributions, Police Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, leading the Cyber Crime Directorate’s Sub-Directorate III, awarded the company a plaque in recognition of its steadfast support and cooperative spirit. This award illustrates the positive outcomes that can arise from meaningful partnerships aimed at addressing the challenges posed by international crypto crimes, emphasizing Binance’s dedication to safeguarding the integrity of the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

Further extending its outreach, Binance also conducted a session with the Cyber Crime Directorate of Metro Jaya Regional Police. This meeting focused on discussing insights from recent investigations, with Vice Director Mr. Fian Yunus presenting an acknowledgment to Binance, reinforcing the long-term relationship cultivated through their results-oriented collaboration.

The sessions wrapped up with a strategic meeting at Indonesia’s PPATK, led by Mdm Diana Soraya Noor. The focal point was the establishment of a more robust task force between Binance and PPATK, aiming to combine global expertise with local insights for more efficient combat against illicit financial activities.

Commitment to a Safer Digital Landscape

Binance’s FIU remains committed to protecting the financial environment, safeguarding user assets while ensuring the secure and compliant operation of its cryptocurrency platform. By integrating international standards with local intelligence, this collaboration strengthens defenses against sophisticated financial crimes while enhancing trust in the burgeoning digital asset sector.

From Indonesia’s national agencies tackling cybercrime to its financial intelligence leaders, a cohesive message has emerged: fighting against cybercrime is a collective endeavor, and Indonesia is rising to the challenge with a proactive mindset. Binance stands in solidarity with these dedicated institutions, offering its global knowledge while also drawing lessons from Indonesia’s innovative strategies. The commitment to a safer digital landscape transcends borders, embodying a united front against the complexities of cybercrime.
