Blockstream Enhances Mobile Wallet App
Blockstream has enhanced its mobile wallet app by integrating a new feature that facilitates seamless, trustless swaps between the Lightning Network and the Liquid Network, utilizing the services of Boltz. This recent update enables users to effortlessly settle Lightning invoices using Liquid Bitcoin (LBTC), eliminating the need for maintaining Lightning channels or ensuring enough inbound liquidity for transactions.
Atomic Swap Functionality
The atomic swap functionality is powered by non-custodial technology from Boltz, utilizing hash time-locked contracts (HTLCs). This mechanism ensures that either both parties fulfill their obligations or the transaction is aborted, with funds reverting to the original wallet if any issues occur during the swap process.
Future Enhancements
Blockstream’s latest release aims to simplify the process of making rapid and privacy-first Bitcoin transactions for users. In addition to this new feature, the company detailed plans for future enhancements, which include support for on-chain swaps. This feature would allow users to move their funds between the Liquid network, Lightning Network, and the Bitcoin blockchain all from one unified interface.
Furthermore, users will soon be able to accept Lightning payments directly on compatible hardware wallets, such as the Blockstream Jade, as part of the continued evolution of the wallet’s capabilities.
