KiloEx Cyberattack Update
KiloEx has made strides in addressing the cyberattack that took place on April 15. Official reports indicate that the cryptocurrency exchange has engaged the Hong Kong authorities, having filed a police report and initiated a case with local law enforcement. Their current efforts include close collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department and the Cyber Security Bureau, which have already yielded some information regarding the hacker’s identity.
Collaborating with Cybersecurity Experts
In an effort to bolster security, KiloEx has teamed up with SlowMist, a well-regarded cybersecurity firm, to prepare a thorough investigation report. This document is expected to be made available to the public at an appropriate time. In terms of security measures, the vulnerabilities that led to the incident have been addressed, eliminating the risk of positions being liquidated. All user accounts will be settled based on the snapshot price before the hack occurred.
Compensation and Recovery Strategy
Furthermore, KiloEx is formulating a strategy for compensating affected users and is actively seeking additional funding to support the recovery process. The platform’s Vault feature will gradually resume operations once the compensation plan is finalized, ensuring that user funds are safeguarded.
Hacker’s Activity and User Protection
Interestingly, the hacker has yet to move any of the stolen assets. KiloEx has attempted to reach out multiple times through on-chain messages to request the return of 90% of the stolen funds, but there has been no reply. To further protect user interests, the addresses related to the theft have been blocked in collaboration with various decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and centralized exchanges (CEX).
Denial of Internal Complicity Speculations
KiloEx has strongly denied any claims of internal complicity.
They assert that both the police and SlowMist have conducted an exhaustive review of all internal operations, having access to comprehensive data. Should any internal misconduct be uncovered, it will be addressed appropriately, but for now, KiloEx remains committed to transparency and users’ security.
