Warning About Scams Targeting Lace Users
Cardano’s Web3 wallet Lace has recently alerted the cryptocurrency community about potential scams targeting users. In an advisory tweet, Lace warned individuals about a fraudulent website masquerading as the legitimate Lace site, specifically noting that lacedesktop.io is not the genuine platform. Users are strongly urged to remain cautious and vigilant against such scams.
Phishing Attempts and User Safety
Moreover, the community has also been cautioned to be aware of phishing attempts impersonating the wallet through emails that reference ‘Lace Desktop 2.0.’ Phishing tactics often involve deceivers posing as trusted entities to trick individuals into divulging private information, such as passwords or financial details. Lace explicitly mentioned that they will never solicit recovery phrases or private keys from their users, reinforcing the importance of relying solely on verified communication channels.
As a common method of attack, phishing emails frequently contain harmful links or attachments that can install malware on a victim’s device or lead them to imitation websites where personal information can be easily compromised. Lace’s guidance encourages users to prioritize their safety and use only official links to access their services.
Launch of the Midnight Privacy Network
In other news, Cardano’s founder, Charles Hoskinson, has announced the imminent launch of the Midnight privacy network on the Cardano mainnet, anticipated to occur this week. In a video update discussing the ‘Midnight launch week,’ he described the initial deployment as a federated model, where initial operations will be managed by selected partners until the system reaches stability, after which it will transition to full decentralization.
Hoskinson expressed his excitement about the advancements in Midnight, noting,
“What’s truly impressive though is what’s already been built. You know, Midnight is running Kacina, we’re running Plunk, Halo 2, and we have Compact.”
He emphasized that this development marks a significant milestone as it combines Zcash’s privacy features with smart contract capabilities.
He reflected on the long journey of the Midnight project, stating,
“We started Midnight more than eight years ago. It left the R&D phase two years in, and for the last six years, we’ve been continuously developing it.”
This dedication exemplifies the ongoing commitment within the Cardano network to innovate and enhance blockchain technology.
