Upcoming Integration of XRP into Lace Wallet

In a recent AMA (ask-me-anything) session, Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Cardano, announced exciting news for users of the Lace wallet: support for XRP will soon be integrated. Developed by Input Output, a leading organization within the Cardano ecosystem, Lace wallet was launched on the public mainnet in April 2023.

Features and Updates of Lace Wallet

This innovative light wallet allows users to stake ADA directly and has seen a series of updates that enhance its capabilities. For instance, the wallet has incorporated new features aimed at improving connectivity for decentralized applications (dApps) and integrating with various hardware options.

Notably, a significant update in June 2024 introduced support for multiple wallets and accounts. Earlier in the year, in April, Lace made headlines by announcing its multi-chain functionality, which included support for Bitcoin. This was part of the rollout of Lace 1.22, enabling users to manage their Bitcoin holdings on a test network, thereby paving the way for decentralized finance (DeFi) using Bitcoin within the Cardano framework.

Additionally, just last month, Lace was made accessible on Firefox, enhancing its user reach through a widely used browser. The newly launched extension allows users to create wallets, stake, and enjoy seamless connectivity with dApps.

Charles Hoskinson’s Evolving Relationship with XRP

Interestingly, Hoskinson’s relationship with the XRP community has evolved from previous conflicts to one of support, as he recently expressed his enthusiasm for the XRP token and Ripple Labs.

In December, he commended Ripple’s USD (RLUSD) stablecoin and mentioned his efforts to facilitate XRP’s entry to the Cardano platform. Moreover, he has shown support for the notion of Ripple potentially acquiring the stablecoin operator, Ripple Labs, highlighting a growing collaboration within the crypto space.
