Concerns Over Hacked Wallet in Shiba Inu Community

Kaal Dhairya, a prominent developer within the Shiba Inu community, has recently taken steps to alleviate fears stemming from an alarming post by the account “Woof decentra” on X (formerly Twitter). This account claimed that the official wallet linked to the Shiba Inu: Deployer 1 had been compromised, leading to concerns about potential scams in recent transactions.

Warning from Woof Decentra

Woof decentra warned that the hacked wallet, identified as 0xA221af4a429b734Abb1CC53Fbd0c1D0Fa47e1494, had been used for launching new tokens, which might not be legitimate. They emphasized:

“My official Shiba Inu: Deployer 1 wallet was hacked. All recent transactions, including new token launches, are not mine. Be careful and ignore any activity from this address.”

This revelation quickly caught the eye of SHIB enthusiasts who sought clarity on the implications of this alarming situation.

Kaal Dhairya’s Assurance

In response to the growing concerns, Kaal Dhairya assured the community that the incident would not disrupt any critical components of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. He posted on X:

“No critical systems are tied to it,”

addressing the Deployer 1 wallet. Kaal further mentioned a lingering issue regarding the LEASH token originating from a previous developer, emphasizing that while the compromised wallet might be utilized for future token launches, caution is advised as these could potentially be scams.

Recent Controversy Surrounding LEASH

This clarification arrives in the wake of the recent controversy related to LEASH. On August 11, it was observed that the total supply of LEASH surged by approximately 10%, contrary to the community’s understanding that its supply was immutably fixed with no rebasing enabled. Kaal explained that, although the ownership of certain addresses was relinquished, control over supply modifications still existed via a complex contract chain.

Potential Paths Forward

As the community grapples with these issues, two potential paths forward have emerged. One could be to open negotiations with the original developer— a route that has previously yielded little success. The alternative would be to propose launching LEASH v2 on a new, audited, non-rebase contract, subject to the approval of the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).
