Ethereum’s Scaling Achievement
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has taken to social media to celebrate the network’s latest achievement regarding its scaling capabilities. On March 12 at 14:37 UTC, the Ethereum network reached a remarkable transaction per second (TPS) peak of 3,453, a significant increase compared to its usual performance of approximately 15 to 30 TPS on its mainnet.
Layer-2 Rollup Solutions
By incorporating various layer-2 rollup solutions like Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, and zkSync, the Ethereum ecosystem is now capable of handling hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of TPS collectively.
Buterin’s Insights
In a previous update, Buterin expressed appreciation for zkSync Atlas, describing its functionalities as “underrated and valuable.”
He also highlighted the concept of “incorruptibility” as the blockchain’s most critical characteristic. Furthermore, Buterin pointed out the importance of PeerDAS (peer data availability sampling) technology for the scaling of Ethereum.
Addressing Scalability Challenges
In the past, he has characterized scalability as a major obstacle for the second-largest blockchain, particularly highlighting issues related to network congestion during times of increased activity. Nevertheless, advancements like layer-2 rollups, proto-danksharing, and various other enhancements are addressing these scalability challenges, paving the way for Ethereum’s growth.
