Ethereum’s Executive Core Developers Meeting

In a recent gathering of Ethereum’s Executive Core Developers, the 216th meeting led by Christine Kim, a notable decision was made regarding the upcoming Fusaka upgrade. The team has opted to withdraw EIP 7907 from the upgrade’s proposals, thereby maintaining the current limits on smart contract code size for the time being. While there is a possibility of re-evaluating this EIP for the subsequent Glamsterdam hard fork, its inclusion remains uncertain.

Fusaka Upgrade Timeline

During the meeting, Tim Beiko outlined a potential timeline for the Fusaka upgrade’s rollout on the mainnet. Key dates include:

  • A client public testnet release scheduled for the week of August 25.
  • The first public testnet upgrade from September 22 to October 3.
  • A second testnet upgrade set for October 6 to 10.

Additionally, developers are anticipating the release of Fusaka Devnet-3 on July 23.

Glamsterdam Hard Fork Discussions

As for the Glamsterdam hard fork, there appears to be general agreement among developers regarding its implementation strategies. However, several critical aspects, including the mechanism for proposer-builder separation and the design of a block-level access list, are still under discussion. After engaging with the broader Ethereum community, the developers plan to finalize decisions concerning the essential code revisions for the Glamsterdam upgrade within the next two to four weeks.
