The Ethereum Foundation’s Revised Vision

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has unveiled a revised vision, reinforcing its commitment to preserving the principles of decentralization, openness, and resistance to censorship that define Ethereum as a globally accessible computing platform. Moving forward, the Foundation plans to enhance its focus on supporting infrastructure, coordinating protocol upgrades, and researching privacy technologies.

A significant part of this evolution involves transferring certain responsibilities to encourage self-reliance and a range of governance approaches within the ecosystem.

Future Plans and Initiatives

In the upcoming year, the Ethereum Foundation aims to implement “prudent guidance and accelerated execution” while enhancing the Ethereum mainnet (L1), ensuring compatibility across Layer 2 solutions, and improving the user experience at the application layer. The Foundation stands firm on its four foundational values:

  • Open source development
  • Secure privacy measures
  • Resilience against censorship
  • Robust security practices

Leadership Structure

Additionally, the EF disclosed a new leadership structure, appointing Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz K. Stańczak as co-executive directors, who will jointly oversee strategic initiatives and the execution of operational tasks. The board of directors now includes notable figures such as Vitalik Buterin, Aya Miyaguchi, Patrick Storchenegger, and Hsiao-Wei Wang, who will guide the Foundation’s vision and supervise management decisions.
