The vision behind Bitcoin, articulated in its original white paper by Satoshi Nakamoto, sought to create a decentralized electronic cash system.
Michael Saylor’s Perspective
However, Michael Saylor, the executive chairman of Strategy, appears to interpret Bitcoin’s role quite differently. Saylor, who has been at the forefront of large-scale Bitcoin investments for nearly five years, recently sparked discussions with proposals resembling the concept of a “Bitcoin central bank” during his presentation at the Bitcoin MENA conference in Abu Dhabi.
Insights from Saifedean Ammous
Among attendees was noted economist Saifedean Ammous, renowned for his influential book, “The Bitcoin Standard”. Ammous, who has a close rapport with Saylor—a relationship underscored by Saylor’s foreword to Ammous’ acclaimed work—provided insights on how Saylor perceives Bitcoin.
In a conversation on Cointelegraph’s Chain Reaction podcast, Ammous pointed out that Saylor does not regard Bitcoin as conventional money. Instead, he sees it primarily as a hard asset, much like crude oil, from which various financial products can be refined.
