Ethereum’s Response to Data Privacy Regulations
As the Ethereum blockchain adapts to the evolving landscape of data privacy regulations, a fresh proposal has emerged advocating for a modular compliance strategy aimed at aligning with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Introduction of the Modular Compliance Strategy
On June 9, Eugenio Reggianini, a member of the Ethereum community, introduced ideas focused on utilizing a modular architecture to enhance data privacy and management efficiency.
“By decentralizing personal data storage to wallets and decentralized applications (DApps), employing off-chain storage with the capability for metadata erasure, and cryptographically dividing roles, we can concentrate GDPR compliance responsibilities within a select group of entities, while the larger network merely acts as processors or potentially operates outside of the regulatory scope,” Reggianini stated.
