Recent data provided by SoSoValue reveals a significant surge in Bitcoin investments by publicly traded companies, totaling nearly $1 billion last week. By the close of trading on July 21, 2025 ET, these firms collectively directed an impressive $953 million into Bitcoin purchases (excluding those by mining operations).

Leading Contributors

Leading the charge was Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, which contributed $739.8 million to acquire an additional 6,220 bitcoins at an average purchase price of $118,940. This robust acquisition increased its total Bitcoin reserves to a staggering 607,770 BTC.

Notable Transactions

Meanwhile, Japan’s Metaplanet announced a halt to its Bitcoin buying spree, having increased its investments for five consecutive weeks prior to this pause. In a noteworthy move, Sequans Communication, a French semiconductor firm listed in the US under NYSE: SQNS, made its debut in the Bitcoin market with a substantial $150 million purchase. This transaction secured the company an additional 1,264 bitcoins at a rate of $118,659, raising their total holdings to 2,317 BTC.

Several other companies also joined in on the buying momentum. The Smarter Web, a UK advertising technology company, invested $36.1 million to buy 325 bitcoins at a cost of $111,107, elevating their aggregate holdings to 1,600 BTC. Additionally, Semler Scientific, an American medical services enterprise, acquired 210 BTC for $25 million, bringing its total to 4,846 bitcoins at a rate of $118,974. Conversely, Blockchain Group, a French service provider in the Web3 space, spent $2.56 million to gain 22 bitcoins, enhancing its total to 1,955 BTC at a price of $116,516.

Current Holdings Overview

Following these transactions, as of the latest update, the collective Bitcoin holdings of global publicly traded firms, excluding mining companies, stand at 681,680 bitcoins, valued at approximately $80.4 billion. This figure represents about 3.43% of the total Bitcoin market capitalization.
