Heather Morgan: The Rise of Razzlekhan

Heather Morgan, better known by her stage name Razzlekhan, is gearing up to release new music as she prepares for her upcoming release from federal custody. Morgan, aged 35, is currently serving an 18-month sentence for her involvement in laundering funds resulting from the notorious 2016 Bitfinex hack. She is being monitored by a residential reentry management office in Sacramento, California, and is expected to be fully released on December 28.

New Music on the Horizon

Her new single, titled “Turki$h Martha,” is anticipated to drop this Friday. In a tweet posted on November 12, Morgan shared that the track gained popularity during her time in prison.

“Both prison staff & inmates at Victorville LOVED this song & asked me to rap ‘Turki$h Martha’ regularly,”

she noted, highlighting the song’s unexpected reception behind bars.

Background and Legal Troubles

Morgan was sentenced for her role in the laundering operation connected to the theft of over 119,000 BTC during the Bitfinex breach, a significant event in the world of cryptocurrency theft. Her husband, Ilya Lichtenstein, who claimed responsibility for the hack, is serving a five-year sentence for money laundering as well.

In the aftermath of their 2022 arrest, the fascination surrounding Razzlekhan’s unique personal brand intensified. Prior to her legal troubles, Morgan had built a diverse online presence that included rap music videos, lifestyle content, and business advice, showcasing her travels in countries like Turkey, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Japan. During her time in Turkey, she had the opportunity to study at Bilkent University.

Razzlekhan’s Unique Persona

Razzlekhan’s persona is characterized by a flamboyant style, which she famously described as

“Genghis Khan, but with more pizzazz.”

Following her arrest, her past music videos gained viral attention, with her branding herself as a “Versace Bedouin” and “the crocodile of Wall Street.”

The single “Turki$h Martha” continues to showcase Morgan’s distinctive flair. In a preview clip, she performs in an Ottoman-style war helmet and includes lyrics that capture her quirky and audacious style. Lines such as

“that ain’t the Harlem Shake, shimmy, shimmy, earthquake,”

and unapologetic references to lifestyle and personal themes exemplify her artistic voice.

Looking Ahead

Leading up to her sentencing, Morgan remained active in creating music, even releasing a song that addressed the emotional challenges of her impending incarceration and separation from her husband. She also maintained an active profile on Cameo, presenting herself as “crypto’s favorite felon.” Lichtenstein has publicly stated that Morgan was unaware of the hack during its initial investigation, claiming sole accountability for the crime.

As she nears her release, Morgan’s ability to meld her tumultuous past with her creative output will be closely watched by fans and observers alike.
