ESMA Updates MiCA Register

In the latest update from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) register has expanded to encompass a total of 375 distinct crypto-asset service providers (CASPs). This update, released on Friday, includes nine new entries, among which are BingX, a prominent crypto exchange, and YouHodler, a platform specializing in crypto lending and yield generation.

New Entries in the MiCA Register

BingX made its debut on the MiCA register through its Austrian entity, MEGE zweite. The company’s EU CEO, Daniel Lai, expressed that this regulatory status will enable BingX to provide its services within a well-defined legal framework as it gears up to roll out regulated operations across the European Economic Area (EEA). Similarly, YouHodler, which recently received authorization for custody services, crypto exchanges, and fund transfers, has seen its Italian branch officially listed as well.

Other Significant Additions

In addition to these, several other significant players entered the register. Prakma Markets from Spain, linked to the Goin cryptocurrency application, also joined the ranks. Germany saw the inclusion of Openbank Deutschland, which is part of the Banco Santander group, alongside cooperative institutions like VR-Bank Alb-Blau-Donau and VR Bank im südlichen Franken.

Changes in the Registry

Notably, the Danish firm Penning Financial Services has been removed from the registry, marking a change from its consistent appearances since July 3. Meanwhile, the section of the register dedicated to e-money tokens remains unchanged with 50 entries representing 25 unique entities, and the asset-referenced token section continues to list no entries. The roster of non-compliant crypto-asset service providers has grown by five, now totaling 178.
