Criminals have become more sophisticated, employing tactics ranging from phishing emails and fake website links to elaborate social engineering schemes. Often, they masquerade as prominent figures within the crypto industry, including exchange CEOs, in efforts to dupe users into surrendering their private keys. Many victims unwittingly provide sensitive information, believing they are interacting with legitimate platforms.

To mitigate the risks, Teng strongly urged the community to approach links with caution and to verify their authenticity before taking further action or sharing personal data. He highlighted the principle of trusting but verifying, and emphasized that the most critical information—like seed phrases—should never be disclosed.
Addressing New Cyber Threats
This advisory from Teng follows closely on the heels of his recent discussions regarding a new form of online threat known as AI “face attacks”, where hackers utilize publicly available photographs to create fake identities aimed at infiltrating accounts. This innovation in cybercrimes poses a serious challenge to standard security measures, as attackers have even attempted to compromise Binance’s facial recognition system.
