Ripple Launches Educational Video on Crypto Regulations

Ripple has unveiled a new brief educational video titled “Crypto in One Minute,” featuring the company’s Global Co-Head of Policy, Lauren Belive. In this succinct presentation, Belive emphasizes the significance of engaging proactively with regulators and policymakers, both domestically and internationally, to foster a forward-thinking and responsible environment for cryptocurrency innovation.

Belive draws inspiration from the popular series The West Wing, stating, “Decisions are made by those who show up,” illustrating Ripple’s commitment to remain active in the evolving crypto landscape.

In her discussion, she highlights Ripple’s continued efforts in 2024, a period marked by legal challenges from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), led by Chairman Gary Gensler at the time.

The SEC had already initiated a high-profile lawsuit against Ripple under Gensler’s direction, building upon an action started by his predecessor, Jay Clayton, just before the end of 2020. This prolonged legal battle, which has since culminated in a settlement under new SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins, underscores the tension between regulatory agencies and the cryptocurrency sector.

Ripple’s Political Engagement and Future Prospects

In light of these challenges, Belive shares that Ripple has devoted substantial resources to actively engage with bipartisan political representatives in the U.S., informing them about the company’s technology and its approach to safeguarding customers and investors. This initiative included significant investments and participation in political events.

Belive noted, “We went to the DNC. We invested in the RNC and participated throughout the campaign cycle,” leading to the emergence of what she describes as the most pro-crypto Congress in U.S. history, along with a supportive presidential administration.

Ripple notably participated in Donald Trump’s inauguration and the inaugural White House Crypto Summit, further solidifying its presence in the political arena.

Currently, Ripple is collaborating with Congress to develop a balanced and encouraging regulatory framework for cryptocurrency, with Belive expressing optimism about the prospects ahead, stating,

“We are excited about all the potential that there is to come.”
