As 2025 draws to a close, members of the Shiba Inu community have been alerted to an uptick in fraudulent activities as scammers become increasingly sophisticated in their tactics. This advisory comes from Susbarium, a trust watch group on X that focuses on safeguarding the Shiba Inu ecosystem by exposing scams.
Warnings from Susbarium
Recently, Susbarium issued a clear warning regarding the impersonation of Tech Leads, Mods, and Admins on platforms like Discord and Telegram. Scammers are duping community members with fraudulent “wallet bug” alerts, which aim to mislead users into connecting to malicious websites. The group warns individuals to completely avoid any engagement with these scam messages:
“DO NOT ENGAGE. DO NOT CLICK. DO NOT CONNECT.”
In their communication, Susbarium included a screenshot showcasing one of these deceitful “wallet bug” notifications, underscoring the importance of vigilance as the year comes to an end. The primary objective behind these scams is to drain the funds from users’ wallets while spreading misinformation within the community.
Counterfeit Accounts and Impersonation
In addition, Susbarium raised awareness about the rise in counterfeit accounts masquerading as official Shiba Inu moderators and admins on X. These impostors often create profiles that mimic official bios and images and may even tag legitimate Shiba Inu projects to seem credible.
Guidelines for Community Members
To safeguard against these threats, Susbarium has put forth a three-point guideline for community members:
- Ignore misleading information from unknown sources and rely solely on official communications.
- Refrain from clicking on suspicious links.
- Never connect your wallets to unverified or dubious websites.
In its alerts, Susbarium provided links to authentic Shibarium Tech servers and support desks, clearly stating that any other links claiming to offer assistance are fake. They caution the community that any redirects to non-official sites are scams and recommend thorough verification of profiles during interactions in official channels. This alert serves as a crucial reminder for Shiba Inu stakeholders to stay vigilant during this busy season.
