TJ Miller Discusses Hollywood’s Relationship with Bitcoin
In a recent discussion with Natalie Brunell on the Coin Stories podcast, comedian and actor TJ Miller shared insights on why many in Hollywood have not embraced Bitcoin. He emphasized that, in his view, it takes just over two days—approximately 50 hours of focused study—for an average individual to grasp the fundamentals of Bitcoin. Yet, this dedication to learning is often lacking among people, especially celebrities.
“It’s quite the challenge to engage individuals in learning after they’ve completed their formal education,” Miller observed.
He pointed out that some cannot even commit to watching a lengthy Netflix series like White Lotus, which runs for about seven hours.
The Shift in Thinking Required for Bitcoin
Miller elaborated that the technology and principles behind Bitcoin require a significant shift in thinking—not only regarding finance and the internet but also in everyday life. He remarked on the culture in Hollywood that tends to reward conformity rather than innovation, which could explain why more celebrities aren’t actively participating in the cryptocurrency space.
Miller’s Unique Position in Hollywood
During a Bitcoin-themed lunch with crypto entrepreneur Anthony Pompliano, Miller described himself as potentially the sole Bitcoiner among celebrities. While other famous figures have entered the cryptocurrency arena—such as Iggy Azalea and Caitlyn Jenner launching their own memecoins—Miller’s deep appreciation for Bitcoin stands out.
For some time now, he has been encouraging friends to invest modest amounts when Bitcoin was valued between $8,000 and $12,000, persuading them to consider even a small investment of $1,000.

Looking ahead, Miller expressed optimism that a Hollywood film could eventually tell the story of the Bitcoin phenomenon. He noted the complexity of its evolution, suggesting that crafting a narrative connecting the various developments over the years could be an intriguing challenge for filmmakers.
