Appointment of Natalia Díez Riggin
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has appointed Natalia Díez Riggin as Senior Advisor and Director of its Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs. Previously serving as Acting Director since January, Riggin will continue to be the SEC’s primary liaison with Congress, federal agencies, and state governments.
Leadership Confidence
SEC Chairman Paul S. Atkins expressed confidence in her leadership and experience, stating that they will help the agency refocus on its core mission.
Previous Experience
Before joining the SEC, Riggin held positions on the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs and was involved with several Senators’ offices. She served as:
- Senior professional staff member for Chairman Tim Scott of South Carolina
- Deputy legislative director for U.S. Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana
- Staff director for the Economic Policy Subcommittee of the Senate Banking Committee
- Policy aide to U.S. Senators Mike Enzi of Wyoming and Mark Kirk of Illinois
Education
Ms. Riggin holds a B.A. in political science and history from the University of Illinois Chicago.
