In these malicious schemes, con artists create offers for NFTs copied or minted from their wallets, aiming to trick users into completing trades that will only benefit the scammers. Wind declared on social media,
“WARNING!! We are NOT sending ‘passes’ or NFTs! These are sent by SCAMMERS!! Do not engage, do not accept, CANCEL their offer. Please RT far and wide.”
Phony Websites and Deceptive Offers
The issue escalates as scammers also establish phony websites that mimic legitimate Xaman domains to issue deceptive offers, such as invitations to exclusive beta programs. Wind underscored that genuine interactions from the wallet provider will never entail unsolicited offers for NFTs or passes. He strongly advised users to promptly refuse these deceptive proposals and to practice due diligence when engaging with potential transactions.
