Nakamoto is the pseudonymous entity responsible for the inception of Bitcoin, the drafting of its seminal white paper, and the introduction of its original software. This individual, or collective, first appeared publicly in 2008, when Satoshi registered the domain bitcoin.org and published the foundational document titled “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System.”
The Bitcoin network was launched on January 9, 2009, when Satoshi mined the genesis block and released version 0.1 of the Bitcoin software. Satoshi actively contributed to the development of Bitcoin until December 2010, during which time he made all changes to the source code himself.
