BTSE Bhutan Receives Financial Services License
On September 29, 2026, in Gelephu, Bhutan, BTSE Bhutan received its Financial Services License (FSL) from the local financial authority. This development comes after the company had been granted In-Principle Approval in April 2026, meaning BTSE Bhutan has fulfilled all necessary requirements laid out by the Gelephu Financial Services Office (GFSO).
Regulated Activities and Services
The newly granted license allows BTSE Bhutan to engage in two primary regulated activities: the operation of a multilateral trading facility focused on virtual asset exchanges, and the provision of institutional-grade custody services designed for the protection and storage of these digital assets. With this license activated, BTSE Bhutan establishes itself as a fully compliant trading venue and custodian according to GFSO standards.
User Onboarding and Trading Services
In the upcoming weeks, BTSE Bhutan will commence the onboarding of users, initially offering spot trading services for prominent trading pairs such as BTC/USDT and ETH/USDT, with plans to gradually introduce additional cryptocurrency trading pairs. As part of a later rollout phase, fiat on-ramp and off-ramp services will be incorporated, enabling clients to seamlessly transition between US dollars and digital currencies directly on the platform. All clients’ assets will be secured under licensed custody, adhering strictly to GFSO regulations.

Since obtaining its In-Principle Approval, BTSE Bhutan has been actively recruiting key personnel to manage essential operations and is enhancing its footprint in Gelephu by establishing a local office in accordance with its commitments. The firm intends to continue expanding its workforce by hiring local talent to cement its presence in Bhutan.
