Futu Securities Enables Direct Transactions of Binance Coin
Futu Securities, a brokerage based in Hong Kong, has made a significant stride by enabling direct transactions of Binance Coin (BNB) through the BNB Smart Chain. This move allows users of Futu’s platforms, including Futubull and moomoo, to transfer BNB seamlessly to and from their external wallets and brokerage accounts, a capability that was previously contained within Futu’s trading ecosystem.
Industry Response and Technical Infrastructure
Changpeng Zhao, commonly known as CZ, the founder of Binance, responded enthusiastically to this development, sharing the news on his profile on the social media platform X. The technical infrastructure supporting these operations comes from PantherTrade, a licensed subsidiary of Futu under the supervision of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC).
Access Restrictions and Compliance Measures
However, it’s worth noting that access to this new feature is restricted to professional investors only, namely those who have at least 8 million Hong Kong dollars (approximately $1 million) in capital. In addition, to adhere to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, all external wallet addresses must undergo verification, with the withdrawal process taking up to three business days.
Broader Trends in Hong Kong’s Financial Services
This launch aligns with broader efforts to digitize Hong Kong’s financial services, a trend amplified in October 2026. During this month, HSBC introduced the RedCoin (RCHKD) stablecoin within its PayMe application, which is used by around 3.3 million people. Concurrently, other initiatives—like the HKDAP stablecoin by the Anchorpoint Financial consortium led by Standard Chartered—are in progress. Additionally, the Hong Kong government recently completed its fourth issuance of digital “green” bonds valued at 20 billion Hong Kong dollars, settling them in tokenized deposits. According to Christopher Hui, the Secretary for Financial Services, the total amount of digitized capital on the balance sheets of local banks has reached approximately 29 billion Hong Kong dollars.
Regulatory Landscape and Market Position
Amid these advancements, the Hong Kong authorities are taking a firm approach to regulation. A new law is set to be introduced to the Legislative Council by year-end, which will mandate immediate compliance from platforms that do not possess a Virtual Asset Trading Platform (VATP) license, eliminating any grace periods for adherence.
In this fast-evolving regulatory landscape, Futu’s direct offering of BNB positions it advantageously within the market. While other blockchain networks such as Solana also look to enhance their reach in Hong Kong—evident with the launch of a second Solana ETF by Pando—BNB stands out as it gains traction with traditional Asian investors through Futu’s extensive broker network.
