Crackdown on Cybercrime

In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, a collaborative investigation between French and American law enforcement agencies has successfully terminated an online platform known as Nudeleaksteens, which was engaged in the illicit sale of intimate images of over 17,000 female individuals and minors. This joint operation led to the seizure of more than $783,000 in various cryptocurrencies, including bitcoins, following actions taken on October 7, as announced by Paris Prosecutor Laure Beccuau.

Financial Operations and Victim Profiling

The financial backbone of this operation was rooted in cryptocurrency, which not only facilitated transactions but also motivated users to engage by offering rewards for sensitive personal information from the victims, such as names, locations, and occupations. This information was used to create detailed profiles of the victims, enhancing the marketability of the stolen content to users of the platform.

Nature of the Illicit Site

The illicit site was notorious for offering bundled collections of explicit images and videos sourced through unauthorized access to social media accounts, online grooming techniques, and revenge pornography. During the enforcement action, two brothers, aged 21 and 25, were apprehended in northern France. Charged with operating the illegal platform and distributing the stolen media, they were identified as the key figures behind the website.

Impact and Commitment to Justice

U.S. authorities highlighted the serious nature of the content being distributed via the platform, pointing out that it included a dedicated album featuring over 6,200 private nude images that primarily targeted American minors and young adults.

This operation underscores a resolute commitment from both French and U.S. law enforcement agencies to utilize digital currency tracing methods to dismantle cybercriminal networks and safeguard potential victims of online exploitation.
