Delo has a history of political donations; prior to this, he was the second-largest benefactor to Reform UK after billionaire Christopher Harborne, who contributed £9 million last August. Additionally, it is noteworthy that Delo, alongside his fellow BitMEX co-founders, previously faced legal challenges related to breaches of the Bank Secrecy Act in the United States. While he consented to pay a $10 million fine in 2022, he avoided imprisonment, ultimately receiving a pardon from former President Donald Trump in March 2025.
