U.S. Justice Department Seizes Cryptocurrency Donations Linked to Hamas
The U.S. Justice Department has taken control of more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency donations that were reportedly raised to support Hamas’s Al Qassam Brigades, a military wing of the Palestinian organization. Legal documents reveal that an encrypted messaging platform was misused to prompt donations to a specific fundraising site, disseminating various cryptocurrency wallet addresses to facilitate the contributions.

The seizure, which occurred on March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025,
followed investigations that led to the identification and confiscation of these funds using intelligence from various sources. Additionally, authorities have seized domains and servers connected to the organization, notably including AlQassam.ps, which has been utilized for recruitment drives and other online fundraising activities.
Official Statements
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro issued a pointed warning to Hamas, emphasizing the precariousness of its funding channels: “My message to Hamas is clear: your networks are not secure, your crypto is vulnerable, and we will not stop until your ability to wage war is defeated.”
She reinforced that these actions aim to cripple the resources Hamas depends on for radicalizing individuals online and financing violent activities, like the attacks witnessed on October 7, 2023.
Assistant Attorney General for National Security, John A. Eisenberg, echoed this sentiment, pledging that the government would persist in dismantling Hamas’s operational capacity by penetrating its online support systems, confiscating cryptocurrencies, and shutting down its web presence.
The initiative was spearheaded by the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office, aided by specialized counterterrorism and cyber units.
