Upbit to Launch GRVT Token Trading

On August 5, 2026, the prominent South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit is set to introduce trading for Grvt’s GRVT token. This new offering will enable transactions against major currencies including the Korean won (KRW), Bitcoin (BTC), and Tether (USDT) starting at 17:00 Korea Standard Time. Notably, users can initiate deposits and withdrawals for GRVT via the Ethereum network; however, these functionalities are expected to go live shortly after the trading pairs are introduced.

Market Context and Liquidity

As the trading debut approaches, it’s important to distinguish that Upbit is not the first exchange to list GRVT, which is already active on platforms such as OKX, Bitget, Bybit, and Bithumb. Consequently, Upbit’s entry into the market is likely to enhance liquidity and accessibility for South Korean traders rather than serve as the token’s initial exchange listing.

Prior to its official launch, GRVT saw a price of approximately $0.3235, reflecting a notable increase of around 23.3% within the last 24 hours, with trading volumes exceeding $164 million. As GRVT is traded on other exchanges, it’s crucial to note that Upbit’s launch cannot be solely credited for this price surge.

Trading Markets and Conditions

The trading markets being introduced—specifically GRVT/KRW, GRVT/BTC, and GRVT/USDT—allow customers in South Korea to trade GRVT without needing to first exchange funds into Bitcoin or stablecoins. However, Upbit cautioned that in case of insufficient liquidity resulting from deposits, the trading launch may be postponed.

As a safeguard, the exchange will only facilitate transfers through Ethereum, sharing the contract address as 0xAD29F2723fcdBcF665F210F25E06f97477e417cF. It’s important for users to ensure compliance with Upbit’s operational protocols; deposits sent through unsupported networks may face lengthy return procedures. Upbit has also clarified that GRVT is distinct from another token, Gravity, which utilizes the G ticker.

Pricing and Market Dynamics

In terms of pricing context, Upbit noted a previous closing price for GRVT at 374.05 won and 0.2622 USDT, with updates reflecting new benchmarks of 385.68 won and 0.2632 USDT around 13:30 KST. Interestingly, GRVT’s trading price has fluctuated between $0.259 and $0.338 over recent days, currently positioning its market capitalization around $37 million with a circulating supply of approximately 110 million tokens. The fully diluted valuation of the token is estimated near $323 million, based on a total max supply of one billion tokens.

Trading Restrictions and Compliance

In anticipation of trading activity, Upbit intends to impose a brief five-minute suspension on buy orders once trading commences. Additionally, sell orders priced more than 10% lower than the previous closing price will be restricted during this time. The exchange plans to accept only limit orders for the following two hours to establish the necessary liquidity across the new markets. Upbit has implemented similar measures for previous listings, including tokens like CFX and HOME.

Moreover, traders must meet South Korea’s travel rule requirements for deposits. Transfers from unapproved sources may be rejected, and personal wallet transfers necessitate ownership verification to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Any unusually large deposits may also prompt further inquiries into their origin.

About the Grvt Platform

The Grvt platform itself is touted as a self-custodial trading and asset management venue, operating on a specialized Layer 2 infrastructure powered by ZKsync technology. It integrates various services, including perpetual futures, spot trading, and yield offerings into a unified account structure. With its total supply capped at one billion tokens, Grvt plans to utilize GRVT for various platform features and fee incentives, although these uses are project-defined and do not ensure returns on investment.

Looking Ahead

As traders prepare for the 17:00 KST launch, they will be monitoring liquidity levels, potential price disparities between local and international markets, and whether the token’s trading volume will maintain its upward trend post-launch. A delay remains a possibility if Upbit assesses that liquidity is inadequate for a smooth trading experience.
