Thailand's SEC warns Bitget users to prepare for access restrictions by December 5, 2026, amid allegations of unlicensed operations.

Bitget Faces Access Restriction in Thailand: Users Need to Act Before December 5

Bitget Users in Thailand Face Access Block

Users of the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget in Thailand are facing a looming deadline as access to the platform is set to be blocked starting December 5, 2026. This decision follows the country's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing a criminal complaint against Bitget for operating without the necessary licenses.

SEC's Notice and Allegations

The SEC outlined the expected access restriction in a notice issued on November 5, 2026, highlighting that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has been informed to restrict access to bitget.com and any associated domains.

In its actions, the SEC pointed to BG Limited as the platform’s service provider and alleged that Bitget targeted Thai users from 2022 to 2025. This targeting included:

  • Operating a Thai-language website
  • Offering promotions in Thai
  • Displaying prices in baht

Additionally, the complaint mentioned an individual named Kritsana Kritsananuwat, accused of assisting in promoting the exchange on social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube. All allegations remain under judicial review.

Advice for Bitget Users

In light of the impending block, the SEC has urged current Bitget users to evaluate their holdings prior to the December deadline. However, the notice reassures that there will not be an asset freeze or mandatory sales, allowing users the freedom to determine how to manage their assets before access is cut.

Notably, Bitget’s own user agreement has already prohibited usage from Thailand, identifying residents of the country as restricted users since an update on November 4, 2026.

Withdrawal Conditions and Platform Authority

The terms stipulated by Bitget require that withdrawals to external wallets be subject to certain conditions, including:

  • Sufficient balance availability
  • No holds on the assets

The platform retains authority to suspend withdrawals if legal regulations dictate or if platform issues arise.

Bitget's Response and Future Communication

In response to these developments, a Bitget representative announced on November 6, following the SEC's notice, that the exchange is currently assessing the situation and considering ways to engage with the regulatory body. They affirmed that user assets are secure and promised to communicate any changes regarding service access through official channels, although the specifics around the withdrawal capabilities for Thai customers remain unclear.

Background on Service Restoration

Earlier, on October 2, 2026, Bitget had declared the completion of its worldwide phased restoration of services, including withdrawals and customer-to-customer transactions, following a security breach. However, this announcement was made prior to the Thai government’s notice and does not confirm whether services to Thai users are still operational.

SEC Recommendations for Investors

To assist investors in confirming the legitimacy of digital asset operators, the SEC recommends visiting their website and utilizing the SEC Check First application.
