Gal Gadot Ventures into Cryptocurrency

Gal Gadot, well-known for her iconic role as Wonder Woman, has ventured into the realm of cryptocurrency in her latest film, “Bitcoin: Killing Satoshi,” which employs artificial intelligence technology in its production.

Concerns About AI in Film

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gadot expressed her apprehensions regarding AI but emphasized the inevitability of its integration in the film industry.

“I’m afraid of AI, but should I just turn a blind eye? No,”

she remarked, acknowledging the necessity for adaptation in a rapidly evolving environment.

Protecting Her Performance

Gadot’s commitment to safeguarding her performance against AI interference was evident as her legal team meticulously reviewed her contract over a six-month period.

“The contract was the longest I’ve ever dealt with,”

she revealed, highlighting their diligence in covering every potential scenario regarding AI’s role in the production. She clarified that while AI was used for aspects like set design and lighting, her acting remains entirely her own work.

The emphasis on protecting her performance led to the Screen Actors Guild reaching out to her lawyers for advice on updating regulations to better shield actors from similar concerns.

Production Details

Directed by Doug Liman of The Bourne Identity fame, “Bitcoin: Killing Satoshi” boasts a budget of $70 million and features an ensemble cast that includes Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, and Isla Fisher. The film portrays a global chase for the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin, filmed entirely in a repurposed car showroom known as the “gray box,” where visual elements were digitally crafted in post-production. The production strategy reportedly cut costs by more than $200 million compared to traditional filming methods, according to producer Ryan Kavanaugh.

Filming Experience

Gadot likened the filming experience to theater, noting the stripped-down environment and the fluid shooting schedule that allowed for extended takes, stating,

“We would film on and on and on.”

However, she has yet to view any footage from the project, admitting,

“I haven’t seen a single shot; it’s crazy.”

Shifting Narrative Landscape

The film’s focus on cryptocurrency marks a departure from the typical portrayals of digital currency in mainstream cinema, often linked to villainous characters, indicating a shifting narrative landscape with projects like Netflix’s forthcoming romantic comedy, “One Attempt Remaining,” also exploring the theme of crypto.
