Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced his intention to petition the Speaker of the Sejm, Poland’s lower house of Parliament, for a re-vote regarding the President’s veto of the Crypto-Asset Market Act. This act has faced a third veto from President Karol Nawrocki as of June 11, leading to increasing calls for clearer regulations to safeguard citizens against cryptocurrency fraud.

During a recent ministers’ council meeting focused on the 2027 budget, Tusk remarked on the overshadowing effects of the Zondacrypto bankruptcy and the high-profile arrest of Polish Olympic Committee President Radosław Piesiewicz, entangled in this corruption probe. Tusk expressed concern over the ramifications of these events, stating:
“This is not some ordinary bribe; it resembles a well-organized network involving familiar names from previous scandals.”
With the severity of the situation apparent, Tusk emphasized the urgent need for action, declaring that the reluctance to address these issues would no longer be tolerated by leaders such as Nawrocki and former Prime Minister Morawiecki.
