BingX Secures MiCA License in Austria, Plans Expansion Across 29 EEA Markets
BingX secures a MiCA crypto license in Austria, allowing expansion of services across 29 European countries, enhancing regulatory compliance.

BingX Obtains MiCA License for European Operations
BingX, a cryptocurrency exchange, has recently obtained a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license for its European operations, through its Austrian subsidiary, MEGE zweite GmbH. This significant achievement was confirmed by Austria's Financial Market Authority (FMA) on October 14, following the regulator's approval of four distinct crypto services on October 13. The license positions BingX to extend its services across 29 European Economic Area (EEA) markets, contributing to the broader regulatory landscape established by MiCA.
Services Offered Under the MiCA License
The FMA’s authorization allows BingX to offer essential services, including:
- Cryptocurrency custody
- Exchanges between crypto and traditional fiat currencies
- Crypto-to-crypto exchanges
- Digital asset transfer services for clients
However, it is noteworthy that the approved license does not encompass the full range of potential offerings for a cryptocurrency exchange, as it excludes activities such as operating a multilateral trading platform or providing investment advice.
Regulatory Context and Future Plans
BingX’s efforts to provide a regulated trading environment come at a pivotal time as the European Union prepares for a comprehensive adoption of MiCA by July 1, 2026. The regulatory framework is designed to ensure standardized safeguards and operational standards across the continent, enabling authorized crypto service providers to operate more seamlessly in different markets under a concept known as passporting. This mechanism allows a firm based in one EU country to deliver services in others, following a notification process with regulatory authorities.
The CEO of BingX, Daniel Lai, commented on the significance of the license in fostering a transparent and trustworthy trading environment for European users. He emphasized that the company's focus is on providing a locally regulated services experience, although exact timelines for launching operations in the different markets remain unspecified as discussions with Austrian and other European regulators are ongoing.
Path to Regulatory Approval
BingX had previously begun its journey toward obtaining regulatory approval in June when it announced that its local subsidiary had submitted an application to the FMA. The October confirmation marks a successful culmination of that process, paving the way for expanding regulated crypto offerings not only in Austria but also across the wider EEA region.
Austria's Role in Crypto Regulation
Austria has actively been granting MiCA licenses to several cryptocurrency entities, demonstrating its commitment to fostering a regulated crypto ecosystem while preparing for comprehensive EU regulations. Other companies, such as the Swiss AMINA Bank and WhiteBIT EU, have also received similar approvals, highlighting Austria’s growing stature as a hub for crypto regulation in Europe.
Next Steps for BingX
As BingX moves forward, its next steps will involve finalizing the necessary arrangements for expanding services across the 29 targeted markets, a task intricately tied to compliance with the MiCA framework established for the broader European market.
