Introduction to CHFD Stablecoin Testing

On September 8, the CHFD stablecoin began its formal testing phase, with Swiss financial operator SIX and payments platform TWINT joining the existing roster of seven participants in an experimental project. This initiative now involves a total of nine institutions:

  • UBS
  • PostFinance
  • Sygnum
  • Raiffeisen
  • Zurich Cantonal Bank
  • Banque Cantonale Vaudoise
  • SIX
  • TWINT
  • Swiss Stablecoin AG

The aim is to assess a digital currency that aims to maintain a one-to-one ratio with the Swiss franc, meaning one CHFD is expected to equal one CHF in this controlled environment.

Experimental Nature of the Project

It’s important to note that this undertaking is still experimental; the involved organizations clarified that the current testing phase does not indicate any commitment to commercially launch the CHFD or offer it to the general public.

The participating entities will evaluate automated transactions within financial networks and the settlement processes of tokenized assets—known use cases for blockchain technology.
